Today we visited Downtown Springville! It was a real hoot! We visited the Art Museum, Pier 49, Tatton Baird, and even squeezed SOS Drug in there!

Today we discussed how students might go about conducting an interview (IIIA), and how they might use their Part IIB Assignment as a good opportunity to set up these interviews, or begin getting ideas for their tangible (if they choose that option). We’ll also discuss a few more Examples of Tours: SLC Downtown, etc. Reminder that D12 we will be completing Part IIA!

We finalized our PBL Groups today, and we also finished planning out the sites we'll be highlighting. I worked with students to continue to finish up your sites. I also introduced you to several different sources to get ideas. Here are some examples of different self-guided tours:
Next, you were told about Part II of the project: Going and visiting the sites / locations that you will be pointing out on your tour! For Part IIA, you'll be going on our Field Trip April 24th / 25th. For Part IIB, you'll complete that independently. See below for more info:
I've also included an example of a short podcast that I created! Check out the website I used to make it: www.spreaker.com
Groups were finalized today, and students were reminded about completing Part IIB Independent Site Survey Notes HW (45 pts) (this will be graded individually, though groups can go together). Students as groups worked on creating a plan for covering all 3 of the required site types for their guided tour.
P.S. Here is an example of a self-guided tour, a Google My Map: Today we discussed our Hometown Hero PBL Project! We talked about our Fieldtrip that is coming up, and what will be expected, as well as the Independent Fieldwork associated with that fieldtrip. You were given a copy of those assignments, and then encouraged to begin researching into potential sites that you could do for your tour. Below are all of the assignments, handouts, etc. for the upcoming project. We will discuss these today and in the upcoming weeks. PBL Introduction: Students were given the overview of the entire assignment, from beginning to end. They were given Part V/ Final: Guided Tour Assignment (100 pts). They were encouraged to begin deciding which local community they want to research (somewhere close by, that they can easily get to) and create a tour for, and encouraged to work close to home. They were given the Part I: Journal Entry Assignment (60 pts total), and reminded that they should submit a journal entry for at least 8 of the 12 days that we work on this project. Assigned: Part V / Final Guided Tour Assignment (100 pts); Part I: Journal Entry Assignment (60 pts) . See below:
Here's everything else we will be doing:
If you want to attend our upcoming field work / trip on Wednesday, April 24th (W4) and Thursday, April 25th (T2), then fill out one of the following below! Make sure you are signed up 1 week beforehand! See you there!
Over the next week or so, we will be summarizing the remainder of our textbook before we get into our awesome Final Project! Hold onto your seats!
