Today we reviewed (kahoot here) and took a quiz for Ch. 2. We also presented our posters. We then had a binder check to verify that you are prepared for class and organized. The last part of class we started Ch. 3, and learned a bit about Utah's Native Americans. We'll continue that next time as well!
We discussed erosion, some of the important minerals found in Utah, etc. We also worked on our State / National Park Posters, and got those finished as much as possible. See below for class notes, etc:
HW was to pick an Earthcache or a Mineral Poster
Today we finished up Ch. 1 Utah's Geography, discussing the climate, animal life, etc. found here in our state. We also continued working on our WPA-Style Utah Parks PSA Posters. See below for class notes, etc:
Today we looked at the three major regions that make up Utah, as well as federal lands here in the state:
As a reminder, you will need to finish your public lands assignment, such as the Geocache or Public Lands. Also, your next assignment is the WPA Utah Poster: WPA Nature Poster Examples; or for more ideas, see this link: Utah National and State Parks. See State Park List here
Today we continued our intro to geography and Utah. We also learned a little bit about Longitude & Latitude, and how coordinates work! See below for class notes:
As we discussed location, we also looked at how the world organizes locations. One fun way to see locations is via geocaches. We went and found one in class, and also learned a bit about our public lands. You were given the assignment to go and find a geocache yourself! See the following link for where those public lands are nearby, so that you can go and enjoy them too, via geocaching, hiking, camping, etc. Utah Public Lands
Alright! You all survived the first day of school! Woot! Today, we went over class rules, what the class is about, etc., and received a disclosure document. Please review it, and then sign it and have your parent(s) or legal guardian(s) sign it as well. There will be points given for this assignment, and it is due Friday. See below: We also talked a bit about Utah. and some of the cool places that make up our state. We will get into the swing of things next time, so have your binders ready, and be ready to learn!
