Today we covered CH. 1.2 "Cities and Empires" from the textbook. We talked about all the ancient civilizations in Central and South America today, especially the Olmec, Maya, Aztec, and the Inca. For the class material, guided notes, etc., see below:
Here's the reading:
Next, we briefly looked at the next assignments, which aren't due for a while, (end of Ch. 2). I'm planning on it being around T1D9, but we'll have to see. See below for the options (you only need to complete 1, not all 3 (you may do another for extra credit if you so wish):
Today we covered Ch. 1.1 Early Peoples (pp. 16-21), talking about the theories of how the first Native Americans got here, etc. and we finished some guided notes along with those. You were also given a HW assignment, due 2 classes from now (D4), which will allow you to experience what those early Americans experienced as well! See the video below for instructions on how to complete that assignment. Link to the Game: http://tinyurl.com/pofb8ge
That's it! The first day is in the books! Today we introduced the class, we went over class rules, what the class is about, etc., and received a disclosure document. Please review it, and then sign it and have your parent(s) or legal guardian(s) sign it as well. There will be points given for this assignment, and it is due Friday. See below: We also talked a bit about the importance of history, and why we study it (despite the perception that it isn't important for many). We will get into the swing of things next time, so have your binders ready, and be ready to learn! HW: Due D2/ Day 2 of class

About the Class:Welcome to our U.S. History I class! During the course of this year, we’ll be studying the first major half of American history. From the Native Americans, all the way to the Civil War, we’ll be looking at how our country was founded, and how that history has affected us today.
An important part of this class will be relating the past to the present, and how the past has shaped our world today. It’s going to be a fun ride, so grab on and let’s go! Archives
