Today we began learning more specifically about the English Colonization of the New World. We learned about the first several colonies in Virginia (Roanoke, Jamestown), and then the students began prepping a propaganda poster to get people to come settle in the New World! Huzzah! Today we wrapped up Ch. 2.4, talking about the English, French, and the Dutch who colonized the New World along with the Spanish and Portuguese. See notes / etc. from last post. Then we had a review, and then our Ch. 2 Quiz! Review: Kahoot

We presented 4 of the 8 European Explorers you researched about in Ch. 2.2 (the other 4 ill be presented next time / D10. Then, we began looking at the Spanish Conquest of the new world.
REMINDER: Your ABC project was due today as well, and will be marked as missing after today...
Today we reviewed Ch. 2.2 Early Exploration, and you were given the task of researching one of the early explorers mentioned in the textbook. Using a chromebook, you did some additional research, and then taught the class a mini-lesson about your explorer! Some sites I would start with: www.biography.com, www.history.com, etc. Here is a list of those we discussed:

Afterwards, your in class assignment was to complete the Spice Trader Game and worksheet (Extra Credit), as well as your AB or C assignment.
Today we finished up our notes from last time (see previous post), and then did a kahoot review, and then took our test!
The remainder of class was used to work on your ABC project. Otherwise, we'll start fresh with Ch. 2.1: A Changing World next time! |
