Today we began talking about the final blows that came which led the colonies to completely separate from Britain. It wasn't an easy thing, but it nevertheless occurred. We began the first part of this section today, and we'll finish it D10. Also, we finished our political cartoon / Editorial letters and turned those in today! Well done!
We also read excerpts from Thomas Paine's Common Sense, as shown below, as well as rephrased the Declaration of Independence, for better understanding:
Today we reviewed Ch. 5.3: A Call to Arms, and learned how the past events were leading inevitably to war with the British. See below for notes, etc:
As a reminder, your Political Cartoon / Editorial Letters are due next class!!! I'll allow anyone who wants to share those to do so (time permitting), and we'll give out an award for the best ones! Over the Thanksgiving Break, if you would like to get some extra credit, complete the following assignment to see just who you are related to!
The next section we covered today was Ch. 5.2: Building Colonial Unity. The British and the colonies continue to butt heads over the next several years. Gradually, even the more conservative members of the colonies begin to believe that Britain is out of line and overbearing. The fires of revolution are beginning to be lit... See below for class notes, etc. The remainder of class was used to work on your political cartoon / editorial letters.
Here a Tax Collector is hung in effigy, as a way to scare loyalists into committing to the Patriot cause.
Today we began ch. 5, which discusses what led to the American Revolution. A bit of it is review, but most is a building of tension as well. It's going to get ugly, folks...
Lastly, you will be working for the next week and a half on a Political Cartoon or Ed. Letter that is concerning the growing frustrations of the American Colonists re: the British Crown:
Today we reviewed and got quizzed on Ch. 4 (Group / Solo). Then, we spent time on our PBL Project, and gave each other feedback on our Posterboards. We used to wrap up our projects, and then begin presenting to each other. The final project will occur Monday Evening, from 5-6:00, Nov. 12th. Good luck!
Today (D3) we began the final section of Ch 4, Ch 4.4 The French & Indian War. See below for the class notes, etc. The test & review will likely be next week, and the rest of the week will be given to you to work on finishing your PBL assignments.
Today we finished up the French & Indian War, and then the remainder of class was spent on your Apprenticeship Project. We also had a binder check. Next time (D5), we will be doing a Feedback Activity on the Posterboards / Part III, so make sure that you have those ready! Final Project is due T2D8 / Nov. 8th at 5:30 PM in the Commons.
We will be having a quiz on Ch. 4 next time, so review and have your guided notes ready! Main Topics to Cover on your PosterboardDue to questions in class, I am posting the following main topics that you ought to consider as you create your Occupation Posterboard:
